Overview
5 days Rwanda primates safari focuses on visiting volcanoes national park for gorilla tracking, cultural experience of the Rwanda traditions, and finally a visit to one of the largest rich tropical forest, Nyungwe that harbors over ten primate species.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1.Arrival and transfer to volcanoes national park
Upon arrival you will meet with our guide on arrival and transfer to volcanoes national park in the Northern Province, check in your lodge for refreshment, dinner and overnight at the lodge/ hotel of your choice.
Day 2. Gorilla tracking
Rise up early for morning breakfast, your safari guide will drive to the park quarters in kinigi for briefing before going for gorilla tracking expedition, maximum time with the gorilla is one hour however trekking alone may take 1- 6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. Return to the lodge after for relaxation and later in the evening if there is still some energy you will visit the iby’iwacu cultural village for the feel of Rwanda cultural dances and traditional norms and customs.
Day 3. Transfer to Nyungwe national park
After breakfast you will check out of the lodge and transfer to Kigali for a city tour where you will be able to visit the Murambi memorial center, king’s palace at Nyanza then later proceed to nyungwe national park in the evening lunch will be en-route at Butare.
Day 4.Chimpanzee tracking
After breakfast you will transfer to the park quarters for briefing. Head to the forest to track chimpanzees where you will be able to spot other primate like olive baboons, grey cheeked Magabeys, L’hoest monkeys, Angola monkeys, red tail monkeys, nyungwe forest is also birding spot of over 300 bird species.
Day 5. Canopy walk and transfer to Kigali for departure
After morning breakfast your safari guide will transfer you to uwinka visitor’s center for the canopy walk and later proceed to Kigali city for departure if on schedule.
