5 Day Rwanda safari focuses on wildlife and gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park for the gentle giants, gorilla tracking as the main activity, then Akagera national park for game drive and spot out a variety of wild animals such as elephants, buffalos, Masai giraffe, gazelles, impala, baboons, oribi, Butchel’s zebra, topi, bush baby, you may also see leopards and lions.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali international airport.

Upon arrival our safari guide will pick you from Kigali international airport and transfer you to your lodge for Overnight stay at Marriott Hotel, Kigali

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes national park

After breakfast, our tour guide will lead you to the Kinigi park quarters for briefing at 7am. At 8.30 am local time, memorable gorilla tracking experience begins. You are to stay in the presence of the awesome mountain gorillas for about an hour. Take photographs and enjoy the gorillas as they go about their day. Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxing then in the evening visit the ibyiwachu cultural village.

Day 3: Transfer to Akagera National Park

After breakfast, drive north east to Akagera national park for an afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema to Tanzania. It’s a 5 hours drive from volcanoes, make sure you have a packed snack for lunch. Chances are, you will see buffaloes, crocodiles, hippos, numerous water birds such as such as shoebill stork, heron, fish eagles, kingfisher, and papyrus gonolek among others. Overnight stay at Akagera Safari Lodge.

Day 4: Game drive in Akagera national park

After a morning breakfast head out for a game drive in Akagera national park. Endevour to have packed snack for lunch as it a long drive of about 7-8 hrs connecting from the south to north of the park, expect to encounter some members of the Big Five including the Hippos, elephants, buffaloes, etc; giraffes, warthogs, waterbucks and different antelope species. Unfortunately there are no big cats like lions and leopards. Dinner and overnight stay at Akagera Safari Lodge.

Day 5: Return to Kigali –City tour- Departure

After breakfast, you will head for a city tour around Kigali such as the Gisozi Genocide Memorial site, the handicrafts shops, the museum and other fascinating places in Kigali depending on the time of your flight if on schedule.
